Maharat Partakes in the “Ana Multazim” campaign in partnership with The Traffic Directorate, Greater Amman Municipality and Hikmat Road Safety
Young volunteers from the USAID-Funded Maharat Program participated in the “Ana Multazim” campaign in an effort to enhance people’s awareness regarding traffic laws and highlight the importance of the safety of lives.
The "Ana Multazim" campaign was launched by Hikmat Road Safety and is implemented in partnership with the USAId-Funded Maharat Program, the Central Traffic Directorate and the Greater Amman Municipality. The campaign will run for eight weeks and reflects an efficient cooperation between collaborating parties, with the Central Traffic Directorate being the main implementing arm.
Under the slogan of the initiative "Encouraging Good Driving Practice", drivers will be monitored by Traffic police along with volunteers from the "Maharat" Program. The monitoring mechanism will include friendly tickets given to drivers breaking the law along with a recognition sticker for good drivers labeled "I am committed".
Abdullah and Eman, two of Maharat graduates taking part in the campaign expressed their excitement about their involvement with the traffic police in monitoring drivers saying " It's really great to be part of this honorable mission. So many people lose their family members and their friends because of traffic accident. This should stop. And we are here today to join hands with everyone who is trying to make a difference and ensure road safety in Jordan".
